Terms of Service
TRUE 82 is a free basketball game made by one person. These are the terms for playing it, written to be read rather than skimmed. By playing, you agree to them. Last updated 11 October 2026.
What TRUE 82 is
TRUE 82 is a free, independent, non-commercial fan project: a browser game in which you draft five players and a model projects an 82-game season. It is provided as it is, for fun. There is no subscription, no paid tier, and nothing in the game can be bought.
Who it is for
You must be 13 or older to play and to create an account. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you need a parent or guardian's permission.
Not affiliated with anyone
TRUE 82 is an independent, non-commercial fan project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the National Basketball Association, the American Basketball Association, any team, 82-0.com and its affiliates, or Sports Reference LLC (Basketball Reference). All team names, logos, nicknames, and player names are the property of their respective owners and are used for identification, commentary, and historical-reference purposes only. Player statistics are factual historical records. No official affiliation or commercial use is intended or claimed.
Where the data comes from
Player and team data comes from Basketball Reference and Stathead, maintained by Sports Reference LLC — the definitive public record of basketball history and an extraordinary resource for fans. Sincere thanks to their team; this project simply would not exist without their work. Their data is used here for non-commercial commentary, analysis, and historical reference, with no claim of ownership and no commercial use intended.
Your account
An account is optional — the single-player game works without one. If you make one, keep your sign-in method secure, do not share the account, and do not create accounts to get around a suspension or to take more than one seat in a shared draft. One person, one account.
You can delete your account at any time from the account sheet in the game. You can also lose it: an account used for cheating, abuse, or impersonation can be suspended or removed.
Fair play, and how the leaderboards are protected
The leaderboards are the one part of this game where other people's effort is at stake, so the rules there are firm.
Do not automate play, script the game, or submit a run a browser did not actually play. Do not attempt to read a future Daily board before it opens, interfere with another player's draft room, or submit a result you did not get.
You should know that it is checked rather than trusted. Every submitted run is re-simulated on the server from the board you were dealt and the picks you made, and only the server's own result is ever stored or shown. A run whose replay disagrees with the claim is marked unverified and can never appear on a board. A run or an account can be removed from the leaderboards at any time if it looks manufactured, and that call is the operator's.
Draft rooms and other players
A shared draft room puts you in a game with other people. Take your turn, let the clock do its job, and do not use a room to harass anyone. A room can be closed and a player removed from it.
Display names
Your display name is shown to other players. Do not use a name that impersonates somebody else, that includes slurs or abuse, or that passes itself off as part of TRUE 82 or the NBA. A name that breaks this can be changed or cleared without notice.
Donations
The donate button is voluntary and handled by PayPal. A donation buys nothing in the game: no advantage, no cosmetic, no removal of anything, no place on a board. Donations are not refundable and are not a purchase of any service.
What is yours and what is the game's
The code, the artwork, the interface, the writing, and the name TRUE 82 belong to the project's author. You may play the game, screenshot it, stream it, and share a result freely — that is encouraged. You may not copy the game, resell it, or present it as yours.
What you type into the game — a display name, a nickname on a shared result — stays yours. By entering it you let TRUE 82 show it in the game and on its boards.
It is provided as it is
TRUE 82 is offered without warranty of any kind. It may be offline, it may lose a run, a projection may be wrong, and the whole thing may change or end without notice. The season projections are a model built for a game and are not a prediction, a scouting opinion, or a basis for a bet. Nothing here is betting advice and the game has no wagering of any kind.
To the fullest extent the law allows, the author is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising out of your use of TRUE 82, and total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you have paid to play, which is zero.
Changes, and ending
These terms can change; if they change in a way that matters, the date at the top changes and the change is noted in the game. Continuing to play after that is acceptance. You can stop at any time by deleting your account and closing the tab. Access can be ended for a breach of these terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising out of them or out of your use of TRUE 82 belongs in the state or federal courts located in Denver County, Colorado, and you and the author each consent to those courts. If a term is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force. Nothing here takes away a consumer right your own local law gives you and does not let you give up.
